"Why I Vote To give voice to 1.4 million disenfranchised African American men due to prior felony convictions; Because the 61.3% of African Americans that make up the District of Columbia are not privileged to have their votes heard in both Congress and Senate; Because of the blood, sweat, and tears of the many civil rights demonstrators beaten by police, bitten by police dogs, and sprayed by high power water hoses; to honor the legacy of the civil rights activist like this man pictured above, who willingly gave their blood, sweat, and tears....THIS IS WHY I VOTE!!" |
